Data released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed the total number of reports (including foreign and U.S.) of deaths following COVID vaccination, across all age groups, surpassed 12,000. Woman Dies from CJD (Prions in Brain) 3 months after COVID Vax

Cheryl Cohen, a healthy 64-year-old woman from Florida, died three months after her second dose of Pfizer’s COVID vaccine. According to Chery’s daughter, Gianni Cohen, her mother suddenly developed Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) — a rare, degenerative and fatal brain disorder — soon after she was vaccinated.

Gianni said her mother received the first dose of Pfizer on April 5, and her second dose on April 25.  On May 6, Cheryl experienced her first episode indicating “something was neurologically wrong,” Gianni explained. “She had extreme brain fog and confusion. She couldn’t remember where she was driving, and got really scared.”

On May 31, Cheryl called 911 because she was experiencing a severe headache. She was taken to Nordstrom Medical Center in Homestead, Florida, where she was hospitalized for 10 days.

Gianni said she was surprised when she found out her mother had been vaccinated, as she comes from a family of un-vaxxers. She believes like many Americans, her mother felt pressured to get vaccinated because of her job and the media pressure.

On July 19, Cheryl was discharged to hospice, where she died on July 22, 2021.

BBC Radio Host Died of COVID Vaccine Complications, Coroner Confirms

A radio presenter died due to complications from the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, a coroner has found.

Lisa Shaw, who worked for BBC Radio Newcastle, died at the age of 44 in May after developing headaches a week after getting her first dose of the vaccine.

Newcastle coroner Karen Dilks heard Ms Shaw suffered blood clots in the brain which ultimately led to her death.

The inquest heard the condition linked to the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was very rare.

The coroner said: “Lisa died due to complications of an AstraZeneca Covid vaccination.”

Angela Marie Wulbrecht jumped at the first chance to get a COVID-19 vaccine, driving three hours from her home in Santa Rosa to a mass-vaccination site on Jan. 19. Twelve minutes after her Moderna shot, she stumbled into the paramedic tent with soaring blood pressure and a racing heartbeat.

So began a calvary of severe fatigue, brain fog, imbalance and other symptoms that are still with her eight months later.

Wulbrecht, 46, had been a nurse for 23 years before the fateful shot. She was healthy, ate a vegan diet and was an accomplished salsa dancer. Since January, she’s had to leave her job and has missed out on many activities with her husband and 12-year-old daughter, Gabriella. She has spent about $35,000 on out-of-pocket medical bills, despite having insurance.

Canada Quebecer dead from blood clot identified as Francine Boyer

MONTREAL – Francine Boyer has been identified as the 54-year-old Quebecer who died from a blood clot after she received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Hers is first fatality in Canada linked to the shot.

Alain Serres, Boyer’s husband, confirmed her identity in a press release Tuesday night after Quebec Public Health Director Dr. Horacio Arruda confirmed the death at a government update on the COVID-19 situation earlier in the day.

Brazil suspends use of AstraZeneca vaccine in pregnant women nationally after death

Brazil’s federal government on Tuesday nationally suspended the vaccination of pregnant women with the AstraZeneca (AZN.L) COVID-19 shot, after an expectant mother in Rio de Janeiro died from a stroke possibly related to the inoculation.

Franciele Francinato, coordinator of the Health Ministry’s vaccination program, told reporters the suspension was enacted as a precautionary measure after health regulator Anvisa issued a warning about the vaccine’s use in pregnant women earlier in the day.

The pregnant woman in Rio de Janeiro died after receiving the AstraZeneca shot, according to state Health Secretary Alexandre Chieppe.

Madison woman dies from COVID-19 she contracted after full vaccination

A 75-year-old Madison woman, Olivia Kingtree, died from COVID-19 Sunday after contracting the illness more than a month after being fully vaccinated from the Moderna shot.

Dr. James Conway, a UW Health pediatrician and vaccine expert, said breakthrough cases and deaths are a reminder that the vaccines, while highly effective, aren’t a complete guarantee infection won’t occur.

“People who are vaccinated need to remember that it doesn’t make them superhuman,” Conway said. “Especially if they’re in a high-risk category, they should still practice some moderate avoidance of activity.”

He’ll be just fine but we could use the positive energy and Prayer for his Full Recovery!” He never did recover and died at age 66, March 13, 2021.

‘Perfectly Healthy’ Florida Doctor Dies Weeks After Getting Pfizer COVID Vaccine

Miami medical examiner is investigating the death of 56-year-old Dr. Gregory Michael who reportedly died from a rare autoimmune disease 15 days after being vaccinated. Michael’s wife wants her husband’s death to serve as a warning to others.

The wife of a Florida doctor who died 15 days after receiving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine told reporters at USA Today and the Daily Mail that her husband was “perfectly healthy” before he got the vaccine.

Heidi Neckelmann said her husband, 56-year-old Dr. Gregory Michael, “sought emergency care three days after the shot because he had dots on his skin that indicated internal bleeding.”

Michael received the vaccine on Dec. 18 at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, where he’d worked for 12 years as an OB-GYN. He died on Jan. 3 after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke related to a lack of platelets, a condition called thrombocytopenia, or as the Daily Mail reported, acute idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).

Tucker Carlson asks a simple question: How Many Americans Have Died After Taking The COVID Vaccines?

Tucker says: Anti-vaccine narratives. He did nothing of the sort. Almost everything they said was a lie that obscured a very simple and potentially relevant question that he asked, which is: should healthy young people receive the vaccine? Rather than embellishing a simple statement, there is no need make up and denounce him as an anti-vaxxer kook. A danger to public safety.

Furthermore here is a great analogy of Joe Rogan’s statement from Yahoo News, “Joe Rogan, who’s not a doctor, gives terrible vaccine advice.” That’s the same Yahoo News that published this piece:  “5 things Bill Gates wants you to know about COVID-19 variants.”  Come on, rolling my eyes and swearing.

Haven’t we had enough of covid 19, this pandemic is going on far too long. Yet for some reason covid 19 makes the headline on the news everyday. Is covid 19 overblown, underblown or is it a scam?

I know we would like to sweep it under the rug and forget about it, but it won’t go away. So where are we now, well we still need to wear a mask, social distance, limit our social gatherings, do not travel anywhere except to pick up essentials and wash our hands. Come on the only thing that makes any sense is to wash your hands before you touch your face.

The virus can only access your internal body through your mucous membranes but we know this. I am a law abiding citizen and if the government and health department want me to wear a mask, I will. One thing I will not do is go into a coffee shop and make a big scene.

Why make unnecessary trouble yelling at employees when they are enforcing a rule.  Put it back in your pants and walk away.

I am not an antivaxxer, nor am I an antimasker, some people are extreme and carry their beliefs too far. However if you want to make trouble go to the police station and yell at them, see how far that goes.

According to the Covid 19 worldometer 98 % have recovered from the virus. Maybe not so good, depends how you look at it, Jeff Bezos had a record year again. Also of note, Bill Gates has a 20:1 ROI in all of his vaccine companies. The rich are getting richer.

The Bad

According to the Covid 19 worldometer 2 % have died from the virus. Surprisingly a few from the side effects of the vaccines, a minute percent but the benefits out weigh the risks. Businesses are going bankrupt, people worldwide are facing poverty and we still have these insane rules. To sum it up the poor are going broke, becoming homeless and starving.

The Ugly

Vaccine makers in the US bear no liability for injuries or deaths resulting from their products, they cannot be sued. Even if you prove negligence, you and your family are out of luck, pay your own funeral expenses.

Vaccine Companies

Moderna Is a $28 billion company with support of $1.75 billion from the US government. They have never developed vaccines but the motto is: We built Moderna on the guiding premise that if using mRNA as a medicine works for one disease, it should work for many diseases. And, if this is possible – given the right approach and infrastructure – it could meaningfully improve how medicines are discovered, developed and manufactured.

Moderna ran a short efficacy trial on the vaccine, was it long enough? don’t think so. We will have to wait, count the injuries and we will see.

These companies have had lawsuits

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is a $360 billion company and has been fined billions, most notable are carcinogens in baby powder and opium poppy commonly named Norman which is a leading supplier to Purdue Pharma’s pain killer oxy contin. Long story short Purdue faced a class action for oxy contin lost big time in court and filed for bankruptcy.

Pfizer is a $50 billion company. In 2009 the company paid $2.3 billion to settle federal charges that one of its subsidiaries had illegally marketed a painkiller called Bextra. Along with the questionable marketing, Pfizer has for decades been at the center of controversies over its pricing, including a price-fixing case that began in 1958. In the area of product safety, Pfizer’s biggest scandal involved defective heart valves sold by its Shiley subsidiary that led to the deaths of more than 100 people.

During the investigation of the matter, information came to light suggesting that the company had deliberately misled regulators about the hazards. Pfizer also inherited safety and other legal controversies through its big acquisitions, including a class action suit over Warner-Lambert’s Rezulin diabetes medication, a big settlement over PCB dumping by Pharmacia, and thousands of lawsuits brought by users of Wyeth’s diet drugs.

AstraZeneca is a $67 billion company. In 2010 AstraZeneca LP and AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP paid $520 million to resolve allegations that AstraZeneca illegally marketed the anti-psychotic drug Seroquel for uses not approved as safe and effective by the FDA, the Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services’ Health Care Fraud Enforcement Action Team (HEAT).

Such unapproved uses are also known as “off-label” uses because they are not included in the drug’s FDA approved product label, is not approved for use in the US, NIAID called the company out for using outdated and misleading trial data when disclosing the efficacy of the vaccine.

Big Mix-Up

Recently in the news, J&J and AstraZenca, had an ingredient mix-up at a Baltimore manufacturing plant. Emergent BioSolutions are the plant owners who ruined 15 million doses of the vaccine. The F.D.A. is now inspecting the plant to see whether any vaccine doses can be salvaged.

Imagine throwing out 15 million doses, I wonder who is in charge of that. Heads are going to roll.

In Drug Manufacturers Do We Trust?

Given these lawsuits, a rushed efficacy test and the mix-up of doses how much trust can we give these vaccine manufacturers? All of the vaccines are unproven long term, of course they just came out. Everyone of you that has a covid shot is now part of an experiment short or long term. I pray and hope that you do not have any issues. If you do, make a report to VAERS and VaxxTracker as soon as possible.

About 5,800 people who have been vaccinated against coronavirus have become infected anyway, from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Some became seriously ill and 74 people died. Also 396 — 7% — of those after vaccination and caught covid 19, required hospitalization.

It’s the first indication from the CDC of how effective the vaccine is in real life — and the first indication the vaccines do not protect completely against severe disease and death.

About 80 million people in the US have received full vaccination against covid 19. The CDC’s reports on breakthrough cases will lag day-to-day reports of vaccines given, so many, if not most, of those breakthrough cases will have happened weeks ago.
Nonetheless, the total represents a very small percentage of those who have been vaccinated.

Which statement gives you the most amount of confidence in the covid 19 vaccine?

1. The benefits outweigh the risks.

2. The benefits likely outweigh the risks.

3. The benefits may outweigh the risks.

4. The risks outweigh the benefits.

Statements 1 and 2 are from the WHO, CEO’s of the drug companies and health officials and 3 and 4 are the one’s I put together. As far as I am concerned the only statement that makes any sense is 4, because if anyone dies, that statement makes sense.

How is Dr. Fauci or Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus or any CEO of the vaccine companies going to explain to the families after a death from the covid vaccine. Remember in the US the vaccine companies are not liable. My version ” Well although the benefits outweigh the risk, we are fully responsible, but sorry for your loss” Make up your own statement this could be great PR, my sarcasm will never end. The following statement is not sarcasm, “No one should ever die from a vaccine”.

March 28, 2021 The Washington Post: The Biden administration and private companies are working to develop vaccine passports that would allow Americans to prove they’ve been vaccinated against COVID as the country opens.

The initiative, driven largely by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has gained momentum as a growing number of companies and venues — from movie theaters, restaurants and music venues to cruise lines and sports teams — all have said they will require proof of vaccination before opening their doors.

The passports are expected to be free and available through smartphone apps, which would display a scannable code similar to an airline boarding pass. Those without smartphone access would be able to print out the passports.

The Biden administration is partnering with private companies to develop a vaccine passport system, claiming it’s the only path to normalcy.

Is it really a path to normalcy, who’s kidding who, we will lose our liberty, data privacy, and big brother will know exactly where we are. Do we really want to go there?

How Do you Protect Yourself Against Covid 19?

It is OK to wear gloves and a mask, but be sure that after you touch things that you do not touch your face. This is where hand washing comes in. I know you have heard this 1000 times.

Eat properly, the Standard American Diet (SAD) will make you susceptible to viruses and other chronic conditions. Eat raw natural fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds and go easy on the fats and this will get you through any sickness. Stay away from table sugar and refined flour. Sugar paralyzes the white blood cells for up to 5 hours. Build up your immunity, these vitamins will get you through a cold, flu or any covid 19 and or variant.

VITAMIN A

Natural sources are carrots, pumpkins, yams, canteloupe, mangoes, turnip, butternut squash, spinach, fish and eggs.

VITAMIN C

Natural sources are. Apples, Oranges, Grapefruit, lemons, Grapes, Strawberries, Melons, Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower, onions & Leafy Greens.

VITAMIN D3

Do you really want a Covid 19 vaccination?

With all of the controversy that the different Covid 19 vaccines are creating, do you think it will help?  We can all live with the minor side affects like sore arms for a day or week, head ache and fatigue. There are currently 2000 plus deaths due to the Covid 19 vaccines in the US as of March 31, 2021. Surprisingly, FYI the drug manufacturers have a clause with the government to not allow anyone to sue for any damage(s) from any vaccine. In summary if you die from a vaccine your family cannot receive any kind of redress. Here are 18 reason why you should not get a covid 19 shot.

Immune System

Dr Brownstein and Dr Mercola both agree that in order to fight off any virus your immune system must be well supported. They suggest that you need to have sufficient levels of oral vitamin A, C, D and iodine in your body to fight off any bad viruses.  Eating enough fruits and vegetables will keep your vitamins up and immune system working.

Also keep a careful watch on your blood sugar levels for type 2 diabetes so you can keep your insulin resistance in check.  Moreover Dr. Brownstein mentions that table sugar paralyzes the white blood cells for up to 5 hours and compromises the immune system. Home nebulizers are usually larger, and you plug them into an AC electrical outlet.

• Nebulizer compressor with AC plug

• 5 cc Dropper
• 1/4 teaspoon
• 1 teaspoon
• Distilled Water
• Sea Salt
• Clean pint glass with lid OR Mason jar 16 oz OR 1/2 liter jar (they are all the same or very close)

The Magic Formulation

Really it’s not the magic formulation, I will walk you through the process step by step. No matter how you look at it you will have to do some mixing but as I said before it is so easy. Pick up a face mask as opposed to a mouth piece because the virus  infection goes into your sinus and you want the vapor to go into your sinus.

1. Fill a pint jar with pure clean water (distilled water) do not use tap water.
2a. Convert to normal saline add 1 level teaspoon or 4.5 grams of sea salt, into the water and dissolve by stirring, note this does not have to be sterile.
OR
2b. Use the 0.9 % saline solution and add 1 level teaspoon and mix in the water.
3. Add Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (H202) 12 %, put 3/4 of a teaspoon of H202 into the water solution. So you would take your 1/4 teaspoon and add 3 level scoops, count them out 1, 2 and 3, add and mix.
4. Now you have created a pint of 0.1 % H202 diluted in normal saline, this jar will last for 3 months.
If you have taken a WHIMIS course you will know to label the jar H202 nebulize solution. There is no stabilizer in the H2o2 and will degrade over time so put the jar in the fridge after use.

A Simple Table

To break down H2O2 from 3% to 1% is very simple, use 2 parts water to 1 part H2O2.  Also to break down 12% to 1% use 11 parts water to 1 part H2O2. Note 1 US tsp is not the same as 1 Imperial tsp, but can be used in the same proportion.

Saline Solution

Note: For step 2 pick 2a or 2b. Do not mix the peroxide with straight distilled water, as this could potentially cause physiological damage. You need to have the salt mixed in the proper ratio. You can, however, make your saline using distilled water.

How to use the Nebulizer

How much do you nebulize at one time? 1/2 a teaspoon or 5 cc, fill the canister in the container. How long should you use the nebulizer per session? Until the volume of H2O2 in the nebulizer canister is gone.

You should nebulize every waking hour if you are not well and then when you feel better 4 to 6 times per day. Do not use prophylactically unless you are exposed to someone that has it or you do not feel well. This method will really help you out if you have any co-morbidities or diabetes.

December 5, 2019 the US FDA is aware of low levels of NDMA in foreign countries metformin diabetes drugs. February 3, 2020 the FDA is checking metformin lots from different manufacturers and has not issued a recall. May 28, 2020 FDA laboratory testing shows levels of NDMA above their  acceptable intake limit in several different manufacturers lots of the extended-release (ER) formulation of metformin.

For this reason, the FDA is being proactive, this is the start of the FDA metformin recall 2020. Important to realize, the FDA is in contact with 5 companies to recommend they voluntarily recall their products(1).

What is NDMA?

NDMA – nitrosamine impurity N-Nitrosodimethylamine is a common poisonous impurity (contaminant) in water and food. Above all, this includes dairy products, vegetables, cured and grilled meats. However, according to the FDA everyone has exposure to some level of NDMA. Nonetheless, medical authorities and international scientists do not expect it to cause harm at low levels after consumption.

Surprisingly, the acceptable daily intake limit for NDMA in the U.S. is 96 nanograms. Genotoxic substances such as NDMA may increase the risk of cancer after exposure above acceptable levels and over long periods of time. Furthermore, a person ingesting NDMA at-or-below the acceptable daily intake limit every day for 70 years will not have an increased risk of cancer(2).

In summary, over the limit, metformin ER in question may cause cancer at a faster rate than expected. On the other hand, under the limit and you will be fine.

Metformin Recall

As of July 13, 2020 the companies in the recall are:

The FDA highly recommends that if you are taking ER metformin on the recall list, to continue until a doctor or pharmacist gives you a replacement. In fact, you know how dangerous it could be to stop taking medication without talking to your doctor. Additionally, the FDA testing has not found NDMA in the immediate release (IR) metformin(3).

Lastly, the FDA is working on locating the source of the NDMA impurity, hopefully they find it soon.

What Is Metformin?

Metformin, initially an extract from the French lilac and for over 60 years used as a medication to lower glucose(4). Metformin is a Biguanide which is a class of medications in use to treat type 2 diabetes and other conditions. Many companies manufacture metformin and is a common drug used to lower blood glucose that occurs during digestion.

Additionally, a safe, low cost first-line treatment for prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and gestational diabetes. In comparison to other diabetes drugs that work by increasing insulin production, metformin does not. At some point if metformin is not working, then you may need insulin if you cannot control your blood sugar.

Too much insulin may increase your risk of having low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). However, very high blood sugar is as dangerous as very low blood sugar. Metformin taken alone will not increase insulin production, therefore will not increase your risk of low blood sugar(5).

In general, some diabetes drugs cause weight gain, but metformin does not. In essence, doctors like metformin because it may help people lose weight and lower cholesterol. Weight loss is one of the best ways to manage diabetes and keep blood sugar under control.

What Does Metformin Do?

Metformin mainly interacts with your small intestine, liver, and muscle through multiple mechanisms of actions. In the small intestine, metformin acts by reducing the rate of glucose into your blood. This reduces the net amount of glucose that enters your blood from food, postprandial – after a meal(6).

In general type 2 diabetics suffer from increased endogenous glucose production (EGP) – the production of glucose by the liver. Lowering the rate at which the liver exports glucose into the blood is a strategic way to keep blood sugar down(7). Lower the rate at which the liver exports glucose into circulation, therefore decreases the rate of EGP.

In effect reducing EGP, means less glucose enters the blood from your liver, helping to lower blood glucose. In your muscle, the molecular action of metformin is not clear to medical experts. Even though, scientists have observed that metformin treatment results in the activation of a signal known as AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK).

This activity increases as cellular energy stores decrease, as a result this enzyme has been shown to stimulate glucose uptake into skeletal muscle(8).

Metformin Information

Here is some trivia, 120 million people have a prescription for metformin because it is considered a safe drug(9).

Metformin is available as

• Tablets in Immediate Release : 500, 850, and 1000 mg.
• Tablets in Extended Release:  500, 750, and 1000 mg.
• Liquid Solution: 100 mg/ ml.
• Generic versions of immediate release and extended release formulations.
• A prescription from your doctor, do not prescribe for yourself or others.

Storage of metformin ideally, is at room temperature between 20 C to 25 C (68 F to 77 F).

Brand names for metformin in the US include:

• Glucophage
• Glucophage XR
• Glumetza
• Fortamet
• Riomet

Metformin Side Effects

In comparison to other diabetes medications, metformin is very mild in side effects. The most common side effects of metformin are related to stomach disorders, like:

• gas.
• upset stomach.
• nausea.
• diarrhea.
• cramping.
• Long term use of taking metformin may block vitamin B12 absorption in the body. Talk to your doctor about whether you may need vitamin B12 supplements(10).

You can limit these side effects by:

• Starting with a low dose like 500 mg and slowly over weeks increase to a daily maximum of 2500 mg. Work with your doctor, eventually, the goal is to give your body time to adjust to the medication.
• Taking metformin with food will help you feel less sick or nauseous.
• Take an Extended Release (ER) version rather that the Immediate Release (IR). In effect, the goal is to have the medication slowly release into your body over a period of time. For this reason it makes it easier on your stomach and digestive system.

Severe Side Effects

People with kidney issues or heart problems should not take metformin since in rare cases it can cause lactic acidosis. Although the risk is very low it could be fatal(11).

Warning

In general metformin has a good safety profile and is well tolerated. However if you combine metformin with insulin or sulfonylureas, talk to your doctor about side effects such as low blood sugar. Important to realize, report any changes or unusual symptoms to your doctor when you’re combining metformin with other medications.

My Experience With Metformin

I did not have a good experience with metformin and within the first month of use, I stopped using it. The most notable side effect was diarrhea which I could not handle, so I quit using it. I was at a point where I would cringe at the thought that it was time for me to take it.

When you are at this point where the drug is not working, immediately talk to your doctor about another solution. I went one step further and started to do research on changing my lifestyle, I have never looked back. Of course you now know that I have my type 2 diabetes under control without medication.

In reality, metformin is a drug that has so much potential, but use it for as long as you need it. You can manage type 2 diabetes through a proper diet and lifestyle.

Summary

Finally, for those of you taking the Metformin ER check with you doctor and pharmacist to ensure your medication is OK. Additionally, check the FDA website as they post updates when they happen. Over the NDMA limit and you are at risk for cancer, under the limit and you should be fine.

So what is the link between Coronavirus and diabetes?

Novel Coronavirus  Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)

In fact, a likely source of the Coronavirus was a wild animal food market, “wet market” in Wuhan City, China. Specifically, it formed from a bat coronavirus and mutated to a Pangolin Coronavirus. Then again, mutated in the reservoir of the Pangolin, through zoonosis passed on to inoculate (infect) a human.

To point out, zoonosis is an infectious disease that spreads from non-human animals to humans. Finally, the coronavirus reached the perfect host, a human, mutated, multiplied and became Coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19). In general, after a person talks, sneezes, or coughs, the Coronavirus can be transmitted by air droplets.

At the same time, the distance can range from 3 to 6 ft (1 to 2 m) away. For this reason, this is why we must practice “social distancing”. Similarly, touching hands on certain surfaces and then touching the mucus membranes (T-zone) can spread the virus.

To clarify, the T-zone is your eyes, nose and mouth (mucous membranes).

Coronavirus Symptoms

In reality, the incubation period of COVID-19 is 2-14 days. As a result, the CDC says you can experience symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath. On the other hand, is it the Coronavirus or are there other underlying factors, increasing your susceptibility?

In fact, most people will have a mild to moderate case, which means cold symptoms to a bad flu. Similarily, COVID-19, causes milder symptoms in about 80 percent of cases, while the remainder are severe or critical.

However, if COVID-19 worsens and inflammation develops. Then, patients might start out with a fever and cough that progresses to pneumonia or worse. Identically, COVID-19 seems to follow other virus patterns like SARS and MERS.

3 Phases of SARS

All things considered, after the SARS 2002 outbreak, the WHO reported that the virus attacked the lungs in three phases.

Phase 1

Phase 1, is the viral replication phase, usually lasts for about a week after symptom start. In fact, viruses will increase in respiratory secretions (droplets), stool and urine. In any event, the start of an infection, the coronavirus rapidly spreads and invades the lungs.

At this instant, Chest X-rays and computed tomography (CT) scans show slowly progressing lung damage.

Phase 2

Phase 2, is the immune hyper-reactive phase, damage to the lungs is a result of the body’s immune system. In essence, the body tries to fight the virus and sends immune cells to repair the lung tissue. But sometimes your immune system goes crazy and these cells destroy everything in it’s path, including healthy tissue.

In fact, studies have shown that many COVID-19 patients develop pneumonia in both lungs, accompanied by shortness of breath. Finally, fever may increase, oxygen may decrease, pneumonia or development of adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) will occur. Furthermore, dead cells clog up the lungs, and pneumonia worsens.

Surprisingly, rather than healing, there is more damage to the body from the immune system response. For this reason, a storm builds, known as a Cytokine Storm Syndrome causing self inflicted immune system response damage.

Phase 3

Phase 3, is the pulmonary (lungs) destruction phase. For the most part, fever has usually disappeared unless there are other infections. However lung damage may continue or progress towards a honeycomb-like pattern on a CT scan. Furthermore, these lesions are present in those affected by COVID-19.

In effect, permanent injury and fibrosis (scarring) of the lung will set in and the patient may die. However, as a result of respiratory failure some may need ventilators or may recover with lung damage. Consequently, not all patients go through three phases.

In fact, 25 percent of SARS patients suffered respiratory failure, the signature of severe cases. In summary, this holds true for people who are older or have impaired immune systems.

Mortality (Death Rate)

Overall, globally, 3.4 % of reported COVID-19 cases have died. In comparison, the seasonal flu kills fewer than 1% of those infected(1). Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%).

The rate may be lower because they didn’t include the asymptomatic (milder cases) and not reported. The rate is changing daily and will not reflect the posted rate. In detail, go here for the latest daily statistics.

“It’s going to get worse before it gets better,” says Donald Trump. In essence, this is no ordinary flu, it is much more aggressive.

Comorbidity

Comorbidity means the incidence or presence of at least one condition or disease. Since, those suffering serious effects have pre-existing conditions. In fact, if you have a pre-existing condition then the risk of death is around 10 %; correspondingly, risk of critical illness increases to 40 % if you contract Coronavirus.

Surprisingly, statistics show that diabetics have a 7.3 % higher chance of fatality than someone with no condition. On the other hand, people with no other known conditions have a 0.9 % fatality rate(2). Not managing high blood sugar will lead to so many other chronic complications and possibly death.

Above all, you need to take care of yourself or help a loved one to manage their diabetes.

Diabetes Risk

In fact, high blood sugar is toxic which causes problems in every single cell in your body. Since uncontrolled diabetes is a condition of impaired immunity and risk factor. In addition, infection may increase susceptibility towards COVID-19 and worsen the outcome.

In particular, according to the International Diabetes Foundation (IDF), older people and diabetics can become severely ill with COVID-19. People with diabetes who develop a viral infection are harder to treat due to fluctuations in blood glucose levels. Additionally, diabetes (high blood sugar) complications will almost always make the condition worse.

A compromised immune system means a longer healing period because the virus thrives in elevated blood sugar. Another factor related to Type 2 Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome are inflammatory conditions related to excessive insulin. In fact, this chronic, systemic inflammation known as insulin resistance predisposes you to complications from infection.

In other words, not only will cuts take longer to heal but any conditions like infections and inflammation. Equally important, normalizing your blood sugar and insulin is the key to reducing inflammation and is critical to survive COVID-19. Furthermore, diabetes is a heterogeneous condition, as a result, not all diabetics will have poor outcomes.

Factors Affecting Outcome

• How long have you had diabetes?
• Degree of hyperglycemia, (how high is your blood sugar?)
• Other chronic complications and acute comorbidities (for example hypertension, neuropathy, and retinopathy)

Can Dogs Get Covid-19?

Apparently dogs can get covid-19 as the virus can be passed from human to animal. Although this is the first case, the dog apparently had cancer and also had trouble breathing it did eventually die(3).

Non infected Diabetics

• Monitor and control your glucose
• Try to remain stress free, because stress will increase glucose levels
• Keep yourself hydrated, drink water, coffee or tea
• Ensure you have a good supply of medications, in case you need to quarantine
• Go out for food, gas or other necessities as needed
•  Do not change your lifestyle, this is not a good time to start exercising vigorously and restrict carbohydrates
• Practice social distancing
• Reduce the curve
• Have all relevant contact details
• Make sure you have access to enough food
• Ensure you can correct a hypoglycemic situation, fresh fruit like an apple or banana works great
• If you live alone, have a contact number of a friend and doctor if you get ill
• Have a plan so that if you do become infected you will be ready.

Infected COVID-19 Diabetics

• If you show flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing), seek medical support and treatment immediately
• Follow medical support advice, try to manage optimal glucose levels.

How To Stay Safe

In the long run, for people with diabetes, it’s important to take precautions to avoid the virus if possible. In brief, keep a social distance of 6 feet and do not gather in groups of more than 10. To emphasize, you will hear this from health officials everyday, wash hands regularly and avoid touching your T-zone.

Stay home as much as possible, isolate yourself, now is the time to act. On the whole, the IDF and ADA encourage diabetics to keep informed of the latest developments. For this reason, watch for daily updates and advice from local, federal and reliable news sources.
